REDWOOD CITY, Calif., April 10 /PRNewswire/ -- E2open, the leading provider of supply chain management software-as-a-service for visibility and control over global supply networks, today announced that Spansion, the world's largest pure-play provider of flash memory solutions, has selected E2open to manage its multi-enterprise global inventory and work-in-process (WIP) management processes. Spansion will deploy E2open to obtain real-time visibility and control of its WIP and finished goods inventory throughout its globally dispersed internal and external manufacturing, assembly and test operations, both at Spansion facilities and with subcontractors. Spansion expects to realize significant savings over the current costs required to operate the legacy system it is replacing. Spansion also expects savings associated with inventory cost reductions made possible by the new functionality E2open will provide.

"Spansion expects to gain visibility and significant process efficiencies from implementing an integrated inventory management system across Spansion's internal and external supply chain," said Michael Lipsey, vice president of business process integration, Spansion. "E2open offers us enhanced capabilities in WIP tracking and valuation at lot-level granularity."

Spansion's suppliers will also benefit from the system; E2open accommodates a wide range of IT capabilities and any data transfer method.

E2open is replacing Spansion's legacy system for worldwide inventory tracking and consolidation and manufacturing operations monitoring. E2open will integrate directly to Spansion's SAP ERP system, data warehouse, manufacturing planning system, PDM system and Spansion's distribution systems. It will also integrate to the MES systems of four Spansion assembly and test houses in Thailand, China and Malaysia, and two manufacturing fabrication facilities based in the U.S. and Japan. E2open will also integrate to multiple subcontractors.

Spansion will deploy E2open's Manufacturing Visibility solution, which will enable WIP tracking at the lot level, WIP valuation, exception management, alerts and user notification capabilities, and reporting and analytics. E2open will provision the solution, establish connectivity with Spansion, perform integration testing, train users, and configure process workflows and business reports. In addition, as part of its software-as-a- service deployment and operations model, E2open will provide the physical infrastructure and ongoing maintenance of the solution.

"Spansion's selection of E2open is another proof point of the value E2open delivers to enterprises utilizing SAP ERP systems. E2open is providing Spansion a system that will communicate information hourly on its WIP, finished goods and in-transit inventory to SAP from Spansion's dispersed operations, its supply base, channel partners and other partners," said Greg Clark, E2open's president and CEO. "Spansion chose E2open because of the rapid deployment, faster payback and higher return on investment that we offer."
