John Moore - more on chain saws

By Chuck Baldwin
He would be our chain saw expert and also will talk about receipts and inventory management. Just in case we doubted that a

chain saw actually had been purchased on Feb. 3 … Moore says inventory records show both the oil and chain saw ...

Before Moore takes the stand, Judge Zell offers everyone in the court a chance to stand up and stretch.

If you’ve ever sat for an hour or 2 on a hard, wooden pew, you’d know that’s a real relief.

Moore is an assistant manager at the 12th and Kiwanis Ace Hardware. He would be our chain saw expert and also will talk about receipts and inventory management. Just in case we doubted that a chain saw actually had been purchased on Feb. 3 …

Moore says inventory records show both the oil and chain saw being sold on the same day at the 41st and Minnesota store - something we’ve already figured out.

Recess now - after Allenstein and Adams have a private conference with Judge Zell.

The private conference continues, with Allenstein and Jeff Larson.

This is the - “Your honor, may we approach?” kind of thing. Only on the court shows, it’s usually shouted. These are much more civil discussions, and there have been several of them.

Oh. I wondered what was in the large box being carried in after lunch by the prosecution. DUH! Dumb me. It’s one of the chain saws bought by police. The defense wants to inspect it. No doubt they’d like to exclude it altogether … but that’s not likely to happen.

I guess the CSI-type question - and forgive me for being so morbid - is whether such a chain saw was tested on flesh (Gil Grissom would use a pig) to see if it gave off tissue bits such as were found in the basement coal bin.

I suspect that wasn’t done. But who knows?

There’s going to be an objection, but it will wait until everyone returns - early, before the jury.
